Words

I live a day
I live a week
I live a year
I talk, I speak
But what was said
I do not know
For the words have grown old
Yet if words are said
It's unknown
If they were lies;
Or a truth untold
But instead of words
I remember the pain
When the feelings went wild
And when they were tame
I remember the joy and laughter words bring
And also sorrow
The hate and the shame
I remember these feelings
So vivid and bright
Yet the words are foggy
And shrouded by light
Because words have meaning
They go deep
Make an impact
Even when words are lost
Their emotions are left intact
So instead of words
Remember to feel
It'll tell you the truth
Both wildly and real
